Dear Future Quaker,
Hurrah! Hurrah! Congratulations on your acceptance to one of the most elite universities! We are excited to welcome you and the rest of the class of 2019 to campus. During your next four years here, you will make memories and relationships that will last a lifetime. At Penn, you will receive an excellent education while being challenged to expand your horizons.
As a freshman, we understand that it can be difficult to adjust to new surroundings and find a niche in your new home. So, we encourage you to branch out to different groups and organizations to help create a support system for yourself at Penn. Know that there are students and staff everywhere that are looking out for you and are working to ensure that campus is a safe space for everyone.
The undocumented population at Penn is growing. As the number of undocumented students at Penn grows, more and more on campus resources join in to learn about and provide support for the undocumented community. Groups like Penn for Immigrant Rights, composed of both allies and undocumented students, incessantly work to ensure that the undocumented community has the resources necessary to be successful in college. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to anyone on the board to put you in touch with other students like yourself. Please be assured that we treat all individuals that choose to come out of the shadows and reveal their status to us with the utmost respect and confidentiality. It is up to you to determine how open you are with your status and who you self-disclose this information to. If you have any questions about being undocumented at Penn, or Penn in general, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are excited for you to start your college experience next year and to see everything that you accomplish from here on out!
